Pizza, eggs, seafood, cocktails.. everything just seems to taste a little better with Sriracha on it and this Zesty Garlic Sriracha Hummus is no exception! Using just a few simple ingredients you can create your own smooth and spicy hummus right at home! A warning to the single folks though.. don’t eat this before or during a date and expect a goodnight kiss! š
…..
Ingredients:
4-5 garlic cloves
2 (15oz) cans of garbanzo beans
2 Tbs Sriracha (plus one more if you want it really spicy!)
Juice from half of a lemon
Salt to taste
1/2 cup olive oil
Pita bread or fresh vegetables for serving
(1. & 2.) Place garlic cloves in a food processor and process until minced. Set aside. For extra smooth hummus, remove the skin from the garbanzo beans before processing. (3. & 4.) Just pinch the bean between your thumb and index finger and the casing should slide right off. Place the beans in the food processor and discard the skins. It takes maybe 20-30 minutes, but the extra work pays off for amazingly smooth restaurant style hummus!
(5.) Once all the garbanzo beans are shelled and in the food processor, (6.) add Sriracha, lemon juice, and season with salt. Process for 15-20 seconds. (7.) Scrape down the sides and process for another 15 seconds. (8.) With the food processor still running, pour in olive oil through the feed tube. Process until completely smooth.
Transfer to a bowl or shallow dish, top with a bit of extra olive oil and Sriracha and serve!
The hummus will keep for up to a week in the refrigerator. Just allow it to come down to room temperature before serving again.
Enjoy!
