Our place was brand new when we moved in, so that meant ALL white walls and wood laminate flooring throughout. Brand new is good, but it’s missing that charm and character of older houses. I decided to slowly incorporate different pieces of furniture and décor to add some pops of color and vintage charm that this house desperately needs!
I picked up this globe a while ago at a thrift store and I loved how it looked naturally, so we left it. Once we moved into the new place however, we realized the color and wood base clashed with the hardwood flooring. Nothing a little spray paint couldn’t cure!
I had a little bit of difficulty disassembling it, but with some persistence and a bit of elbow grease I was able to pop it out and get the frame painted.
Two coats of Krylon’s Blue Ocean Breeze was just what this old globe needed to brighten up our space!
Stay tuned for more up-cycling and home improvement projects!

Certainly brightened it up! The color matches the blue on the globe so it is pleasing to look at. Was that an old oven you were spraying into for a paint box? At my old house I am planning on all white walls again (may live there in ten years or so when I am retirement age) because when we ding a wall … oops…. it is so hard to touch up when the paint is gone. Walmart white! But will make the stuff in it pop, right? I have some colored walls here and we have already dinged up the bathroom and living room. I must stick with my old all white ways, getting too old to keep repainting.

It’s actually a Rubbermaid tub! It keeps the over spray from getting all over our deck or my items getting rained on since that happens quite often here in the Pacific NW! haha I wish you luck in your painting projects! I feel like I’m constantly covered in layers of spray paint lately!

I love how much just changing the paint color changed the look of this globe! It looks so fresh now! Thanks for the inspiration!
