What a difference one year makes.. This recipe is actually an old one that I’ve updated the photos on because.. well.. they were downright awful! I didn’t know much about lighting, angles, or presentation. I’m still learning every day and doing the best that I can with the camera I have, but they now look a bit more appetizing than before! 😉 Sweet mashed potatoes are delicious and perfect for this time of year. Cinnamon and nutmeg bring out the natural flavor from the potatoes and make this a seasonal side dish you can’t resist seconds on! Be sure to check out the original photo of these at the bottom of the post for a good laugh!
…..
Ingredients:
4lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped
1 – 1 ½ cups unsalted butter
2 Tbs brown sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
3 Tbs honey
3-4 Tbs milk or cream, add more to your desired consistency
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
Add sweet potatoes to a large pot and cover with water. Cover and bring to a boil for 10 minutes or until tender.
Drain water from potatoes and mash with a fork or potato masher. Add butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, honey, and stir to combine.
Top with a bit of extra butter, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and serve!
Enjoy!
P.S. Here’s how I photographed these 1 year ago.. using the same camera!
First of all: YIKES! and second of all: GROSS! No matter how delicious a meal is, you can’t expect people to want to eat it when it doesn’t LOOK good! Never photograph under fluorescent lights!

Thank you! It’s good to keep those photos around as a reminder! Haha and let me know what you think! They pair well with pork chops! (hint at a future recipe!)

Oooooh, one of our favorite things to cook – especially in our cast-iron pan! ^_^ Looking forward to it!
