Alright.. it’s time for a little honesty. Most of my recipes and cocktails are made ahead of time so I can have them scheduled for the appropriate day. Yesterday was not one of those times. I woke up thinking I could whip this together and have it up before noon… until I realized we were completely out of ice. While impatiently willing water to freeze faster, I started on another recipe. I didn’t know it right away, but I was working with a faulty waffle iron, that resulted in a batch of soggy and yet somehow also burned waffles, and a destroyed kitchen. Things only continued to go down from there, so I decided to make myself a stiff drink, watch this adorable pig video (Chris P. Bacon! How cute is that?!), and try it again the next day with a fresh outlook. My day so far has been a hell of a lot smoother than yesterday and this cocktail was well worth the wait! Refreshing, tart, sweet, and STRONG! If you had a disaster of a day (or week), kick back and treat yourself to this delightful drink!
…..
(makes 2 drinks)
Ingredients:
10 strawberries, hulled and sliced
2 tsp sugar
½ cup blood orange juice (2 blood oranges)
¼ cup lemon juice (2 lemons)
2 Tbs lime juice (1-2 limes)
½ cup Sailor Jerry Rum
ICE! Don’t forget the ice!
Sparkling water
Blood orange slices and strawberries for garnish
Add strawberries and sugar to a cocktail shaker and muddle until they’re broken down and sugar is dissolved. Add the citrus juices and rum, shake, and strain through a fine mesh sieve into a large glass or liquid measuring cup. Press on the pulp to extract all of the juice.
Distribute between two ice filled glasses. Top with sparkling water, garnish, and serve!
Enjoy responsibly!
Glasses can be found at Sailor Jerry!

Those look so refreshing! Even though it’s 0° F here in Minneapolis.
Love the glasses too. Going to go Google for tattoo glasses.

Those gasses are too super cool! I’ve got to go check them out – they could be a great birthday present for my sailor fiancé! This looks really tasty and perfect for ‘winter’ in Hawaii.
