With temperatures dropping this weekend here in the Midwest, I find myself already layered in sweaters, burrowed under blankets, and drinking all the tea and hot chocolate that I can. I know this is only the beginning and it’s going to get MUCH colder, so I’m stock piling on ingredients to make all of my favorite warm boozy drinks through those extra chilly winter days. Luckily this Spiked S’mores Hot Chocolate doesn’t require too many ingredients or a lot of time to make, so it’s the perfect tummy warming cocktail to sip when you’re snowed in!
Spiked S’mores Hot Chocolate
(makes 2 drinks)
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups milk
2 packets of hot chocolate mix
2oz vodka
2oz Irish cream
1 graham cracker
Chocolate syrup
2 large marshmallows
Start by heating the milk in a small saucepan over medium to high heat. Bring milk to a boil, reduce heat to low and whisk in hot chocolate mix. Add vodka and Irish cream and stir to mix. Keep warm on the lowest heat setting, stirring occasionally.
Next break the graham cracker up into fine crumbs in a shallow dish or plate. Rim two mugs with chocolate syrup and then dip into graham cracker crumbs to completely coat. Set glasses aside.
Skewer marshmallows on long garnish sticks or you can just cut two wooden skewers in half. Turn a stove burner on high and carefully toast your marshmallow to your liking, rotating the stick to toast evenly. I wedged the skewer between fork prongs to avoid toasting my fingers as well!
Give your spiked hot chocolate mix a few stirs and then distribute evenly between the two mugs. Top with your toasted marshmallow and serve.
Enjoy responsibly!
