One of my closest friends back home is due in November and her biggest pregnancy craving has been hot wings! I posted these last November in the beginning of my blogging days and the photos were pretty awful… Food photography 101: DON’T USE THE FLASH! I decided to redo the recipe and of course the photos to do these delicious spicy hot wings the justice they deserve. Channing.. this one is for you!
…..
12-16 chicken wings
4 Tbs soy sauce
2 Tbs lime juice (you can cheat and use the bottled stuff!)
1 Tbs Sriracha sauce (or your favorite hot sauce)
1 Tbs paprika
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp oregano
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp cayenne pepper
¼ tsp crushed red pepper
1-2 tsp lime zest
(1.) Place wings in a large freezer bag or bowl. You may need to divide them up into two bags or two bowls depending on size. Combine soy sauce, lime juice, and Sriracha and distribute evenly over the wings. Flip wings over or toss in the bag until they’re completely covered in the marinade. Cover or seal and place in the refrigerator to marinate for 30 minutes. Coat a large baking pan or cookie sheet with olive oil and preheat oven to 400 degrees F (204 degrees C). (2.) Remove wings from marinade and arrange in a single layer on the baking dish. (3.) In a small zip-lock bag combine spices and shake well. (4.) Sprinkle spice mixture over the wings evenly (if you have a bit of extra just save for the next time!), add lime zest, and then place in the oven to bake for 20-25 minutes. Cut into the underside of one of the wings to make sure they’re cooked thoroughly.
Remove and let wings cool for 5 minutes. Serve with a side of ranch, blue cheese, or honey mustard.
Enjoy!
