Seashell Mosaic Votive Holder

Tis the season for beachy crafts so I thought I would post another for you!

Supplies:

Mason jar

Seashells

Sea glass, pebbles, or broken seashells (found in most craft stores)

Sand

Glue gun

2 hot glue sticks

Mod Podge

Paintbrush

If you tried out the Seashell Clips then you’ll already have some of these supplies to reuse!

Find a small glass canning jar or for mine I used a recycled pizza sauce jar. Remove the label and any glue left over. I rubbed a bit of dish detergent on mine and ran hot water over it. Once you’ve cleaned and dried your jar, pick out about 10-12 seashells you would like to glue on your jar.

Using your hot glue gun, make a ring of hot glue around the edges of the seashell, press to the jar and hold for 30 seconds.

Continue until you have all of your seashells glued on.

Next grab a handful of your sea glass, pebbles, or broken seashells. Make 4-5 dabs of hot glue on the jar and place a pebble on one at a time.

You don’t want to do more than 5 dabs of glue because it will start to dry before you have a chance to place a pebble on it. Repeat until the entire jar is covered.

Next grab a small paint brush, dip in Mod Podge and lightly dab a small section around the bottom inch of the jar.

Sprinkle a thick coat of sand over the Mod Podge and shake off any extra that doesn’t stick.

You can buy small bags of sand from the craft store or collect your own. Mine came from Cannon Beach!

Repeat until the entire bottom inch is coated. Let dry for 45 minutes to an hour.

Lightly tap the bottom of the jar in a sink to get any additional sand off. Put a candle in and you’re done!
