Summer is here (although you wouldn’t know that in Portland!) and everyone wants that summer glow! So why spend upwards to $40 for a body scrub that you can make at home?! The sea salt exfoliates your skin, organic coconut oil moisturizes it, and there’s just a hint of lemon juice for a fun citrus-y scent!
…..
Ingredients:
½ cup fine sea salt
¼ cup coconut oil
Juice from half of a lemon
……
Add ingredients to a small jar or bowl and stir until mixed.
Using your fingers (or a cute little seashell!) scoop out a generous amount of the scrub. Using small circular motions, gently massage the scrub over your arms and legs. I don’t recommend using this on your face or chest since that skin is too sensitive for a salt scrub. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry with a towel. There shouldn’t be any need for an after shower moisturizer!
These make great gifts as well! Just add a pretty seashell, ribbon, and label!
Enjoy!

This looks so easy. Pretty sure I have all the ingredients on hand now. Can’t wait to try it, I think the lemon and coconut smell will go well together. How long do you think the scrub will last with the lemon juice in it?
Sasha says
Fresh lemon juice will usually hold up to a week and you can always store the scrub in the refrigerator to keep it a few weeks longer, just remember to take it out a few hours before using so the coconut oil isn’t solid from the cold! : )

Plus you can always use a fragrance oil you like- lavender or vanilla- and it will last a bit longer.
Great idea with the lemon!

Wonderful suggestion Victoria!

Lovely idea, but probably not the best idea to put something you may use in the shower, which will also become quite slippery, in a glass jar. Bare feet an Ball-Mason jar shards are not a fun combination.

You’re quite right! That’s why I also suggest in the tutorial to use a bowl. If storing in a glass jar I would hope the reader would know to use outside of the shower or to take a bath versus a shower so they’re not putting their own safety at risk.

Thank you Julia!

Could you use bottled lemon or lime?
Sasha says
It has a slightly different smell/taste, but I’m sure it would work just fine in lieu of fresh squeezed juice!
