I was half-tempted to call this punch ‘Snakejuice’ (Parks and Rec fans know what I mean) because of how STRONG I first made it for our party a few weeks ago! I toned it down a bit, but I must warn you, it’s still pretty powerful! For the sake of my liver, I didn’t make an entire punch bowl of the stuff, so I’ve included the amounts for making drinks for 4 as well as a large batch for a party! It’s fruity, potent, and made with only the best.. Sailor Jerry Rum!
…..
(makes enough for a large punch bowl)
Ingredients:
1 (750ml) bottle of Sailor Jerry Rum
½ (750ml) bottle of sweet red wine
6oz (6 shots) triple sec
6oz simple syrup (recipe follows)
Juice from 5-6 limes
1 lime, sliced
1 orange, sliced
……
Combine all ingredients in a large punch bowl and stir. Place in the refrigerator to chill for 1 hour before serving. Add ice to the punch bowl and serve.
To make homemade simple syrup you need:
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
Add water and sugar to a small sauce pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cook for 3-4 minutes or until sugar is completely dissolved.
Let the syrup cool and then pour into a sealable container. I like to pour mine into small canning jars while still hot so they seal and can be stored at room temperature. They can still be stored in another container but I recommend keeping in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Punch for 4:
3oz Sailor Jerry Rum
2oz sweet red wine
1oz triple sec
1oz simple syrup
Juice from 1 lime
Orange and lime slices for garnish
Combine all ingredients except orange and lime slices in a cocktail shaker and shake well. Pour over ice into 4 glasses, garnish, and serve.
As always, enjoy responsibly!

This is probably a weird comment but I really love your ice cubes! They just look perfect for the glasses!

Thank you Lisa! I found these rubber baking molds of leaves and pumpkins and just used it for large ice cubes in the punch bowl instead!

I LOVE that you referenced SnakeJuice! We should start a “TreatYoself” link party or something.. ha. Actually… I’m totally doing that.
….Anyway, this looks awesome! I’m not normally a big fan of spiced rum, but this looks right up my alley. And I too love these ice cubes.. so weird right?! I read you got a DSRL recently.. enjoying it?

Haha yes! A “TreatYoSelf” link party would be amazing! And thank you! It’s definitely a strong punch so no need to spike it any further! I’m loving my new DSLR! I still have a lot to learn, but the automatic settings are getting me by until I’m better versed with it! Just checked out your blog by the way, great recipes and great photos! Nice work!

Thank you! I JUST started trying to improve my photography, and it’s frustrating not to be immediately awesome 🙂 I literally just signed up for a link party linker tool thingy, so I am 100% starting this Treat Yoself thing! Will you share this punch as part of it?

I’m going to keep playing around with it and see if I can get it to go through!
Lisa says
Ha… I want to “like” some of these comments but that option isn’t available. So…. “like”!
Sasha says
Haha I know! They need to add that feature! 🙂
Cheryl says
Yes! So much better than blowing up your phone/email with a comment that literally just says:
🙂
Ha!
Cheryl says
It isn’t letting me “reply” so I started a new thread.. Ha! Thanks for catching my coding ineptitude. I think I fixed it.. so try it now and let me know if it’s functional 🙂 You’re so awesome! Thank you for submitting your recipe. Now I definitely have a reason to make it! Paired with a deep-dish macaroni and cheese pie perhaps..?
Cheryl says
