I wanted a cocktail that captured this transitional time of year as we say goodbye to summer and welcome fall. Instead of jumping to the obvious pumpkin recipes (although I’m quite excited for those too) I went with fresh Granny Smith apples to be the star of this drink. Fresh lime and mint capture that summery fresh citrus component while the freshly juiced apple gives it a tart and crisp finish that will have you daydreaming about those chilly fall days ahead.
I received a free bottle of Ménage à Trois Vodka to sample. This post, photos, and my opinion are my own.
(makes 1 cocktail)
Ingredients:
10 fresh mint leaves
1 Granny Smith apple, juiced*
2oz Ménage à Trois vodka (you can also use white rum)
Juice from half a lime
1-2 tsp honey
Apple or lime slices and fresh mint for garnish
*If you don’t have a juicer you can use 1/2 cup of apple juice. A lot of grocery stores now also sell fresh pressed juices so look for an apple based green juice if you want to keep that vibrant green color.
Muddle mint leaves in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Next juice the apple directly into the shaker. Again, if you don’t have a juicer you can just use apple juice.
Next add vodka and honey. Cover and shake vigorously. Depending on the tartness of your apple you may want to give it a taste test first. If it’s a bit too tart, add another teaspoon of honey until it’s sweetened to your liking.
Strain into an ice filled glass, garnish, and serve.
Enjoy responsibly!
