We’re in November?! I could have sworn that I was just starting to get giddy about watching Halloween movies every night and now there’s Christmas music playing in the grocery stores?! I’m starting to feel the pressure as the end of 2013 looms before us. There’s tons of planning for the holidays, traveling, and some wedding details that I need to handle in a short amount of time! After a whirlwind week of fun with my friend visiting, it’s time to buckle down and knock off items from my ever-growing To Do List!
To recap last week we’ll start with Halloween! We spent the day at the pumpkin patch weeding through a graveyard of rotting pumpkins to find a few to take back with us. We then did the unthinkable.. we went to a Halloween store at 5:30pm.. on Halloween. Talk about a madhouse! Every costume was picked through or so scandalous that I couldn’t justify spending $50 on 4 inches of fabric that wouldn’t even begin to cover me! We scrambled to throw together costumes at home and decided to focus our time on our sugar skull make-up. My fiancé has tattooed a lot of sugar skulls, so his artistic skills came in handy when we were struggling with our make-up! We got such a late start to our night that we only went to one bar and then invited everyone back to our house to keep the celebration going. I’ll be much more prepared for next year!
On Sunday we got a big group of friends together and hiked from the start of Horsetail Falls until Triple Falls, which I had never seen before. It was breathtaking! I forgot my camera that day, but that turned out to be a good mistake because it rained on us nearly the entire hike! Despite the gloom, we still had a great time! For Britnee’s last night in town we hit the usual Portland spots.. Voodoo Doughnut and Ground Kontrol. We ended the night at Delta Café.. home to some of the best Southern-style food and cocktails. Anywhere that serves habanero infused vodka and cilantro infused tequila drinks is phenomenal in my book!
In the blogging world you’re forced to live a few months ahead so you’re always on trend and ahead of the holidays. I guess I’m in ‘New Year’s Resolution mode’ and thinking about what I want to accomplish before the end of the year, as well as what I would like to accomplish in the one to come. With that in mind, I’m dedicating today to organization, in an effort to get a better grasp on the days that seem to be slipping by. It’s always a fine line to plan ahead, but remember to enjoy the day-to-day.
Anyone else living a few months ahead?

*raises hand* I ALWAYS jump the gun on the season. I was excited to Halloween in August, and now, a mere TWO DAYS away from my wedding, I’m daydreaming about the type of Christmas party I’d like to throw! Hahaha! Hopefully once the weekend really starts I’ll remember to live in the moment and enjoy the big day!!
