Cork and Chalkboard Picture Frame
I’m always looking for ways to keep my desk organized and clutter-free, but I also fall victim to the, ‘out of sight, out of mind.’ saying if I can’t SEE what I need to get done that week! This combination cork and chalkboard is the perfect way for me to organize everything and stay focused without papers, keepsakes, and lists floating around my desk!
…..
Supplies:
8×10” picture frame
Cork-board (can be purchased on a roll or in sheets from most craft stores)
Krylon High Strength Spray Adhesive
Chalkboard paint
Foam brush (it gives the chalkboard a smoother finish than a regular paint brush)
Newspaper or printer paper
Tape
Box cutters or scissors
Measuring tape or ruler
I still had plenty of cork-board leftover from my CREATE project and chalkboard paint from my Kitchen Chalkboard!
(1.) Start by cutting out two pieces of cork-board that measure 5 inches by 8 inches. (2.) In a well-ventilated area, spray one side of a cork-board piece with the Krylon adhesive and press the other piece directly on top. (3.) Press down on edges and hold for 10-15 seconds to make sure both pieces are firmly glued to each other. Set aside to dry. (4.) Remove glass from your picture frame and cover one half with newspaper or printer paper. Tape behind glass to hold securely in place.
(5.) Spray the exposed portion of the picture frame glass with the adhesive and press down cork-board piece. (6.) Press and hold for 10-15 seconds on each edge. (7.) Let it dry for 5-10 minutes and then remove paper. (8.) Paint one layer of chalkboard paint on the glass. Let it dry for about 30 minutes. I would suggest painting inside if it’s still a bit cold where you live. I noticed the paint wasn’t sticking or drying as well when it was outside. Chalkboard paint doesn’t give off strong fumes so it won’t stink up your house. After the first layer has dried, paint a second coat on. Wait another 30-45 minutes before painting the 3rd coat.
Once your chalkboard paint has dried, pop the glass back into the frame and you’re done! This would make a great gift for friends and coworkers as well!
