I made a ham similar to this for Thanksgiving and I couldn’t wait to make it again to share with you! I lucked out when our friend brought over a 10lb ham for me to bake for Christmas! Glazed with fresh squeezed orange juice and Sailor Jerry Rum, and then rubbed in brown sugar and cinnamon to make it sweet, smokey, and savory!
…..
Ingredients:
8-10lb boneless cooked ham
Juice from one orange
¼ cup Sailor Jerry Rum
1-2 Tbs brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1-2 oranges, sliced in thin wheels
Whole cloves
1-2 cups water
(1.) Place the ham in a large baking dish. Score the top, making diamond shapes about ½ of an inch thick. (2.) Squeeze orange juice and rum over the top of the ham and place orange halves in the dish with the ham. (3.) Rub with brown sugar, coating the top and sides and top it off by (4.) sprinkling cinnamon over the top.
Next, cover with orange slices, using cloves to pierce the oranges and secure to the top of the ham. Cover and place in the refrigerator overnight (at least 8 hours).
When ready to bake, preheat oven to 325 degrees F ( degrees C) and add 1 cup of water to the baking dish. Place ham in the oven, uncovered and bake for 2 ½ to 3 hours (16-20 minutes per pound) or until center of the ham reaches 140 degrees F ( degrees C). Check the ham every 30 minutes to an hour and baste with juices in the pan. Add another cup of water if needed.
Remove orange slices and cloves, slice it up, and serve! Goes best with a tumbler of Sailor Jerry Rum!
Enjoy!
