A bourbon cocktail recipe? I know what you guys are thinking.. I’m normally a rum drinker, but a few weeks ago the wonderful people at Maker’s Mark reached out to me with their #GetCozyCocktail challenge to create a delicious eggnog cocktail using Maker’s 46. With strong notes of vanilla, caramel, and oak and a smooth finish, I had no problem making the switch for this recipe. Oh and guess what? I snuck some rum in there too! The more (booze) the merrier, right?
The gingerbread spin I put on my eggnog cocktail was inspired by a Maker’s Mark recipe for Gingersnap Cookies. I thought I would fuse the best of both worlds by adding some gingerbread spices to my eggnog mix and top the whole thing off with fluffy whipped egg whites. It’s as decadent as it is strong and makes you want to snuggle up in front of a fire or in my case, watch a fake one on TV.. it still counts! Stay tuned to the very end for details on how to make this the winning cocktail!

This recipe was created using samples provided by Makers Mark. I did not receive payment for this post and all opinions are my own.
(makes 6-8 servings)
Ingredients:
5 egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups milk
1 cup Maker’s Mark 46
1/4 cup spiced rum
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp grated nutmeg + extra for garnish
1/4 tsp ground cloves
Pinch of salt
Whipped Egg Whites:
5 egg whites
1/4 cup sugar
Sugar & Spice Rim:
3 Tbs brown sugar
1 Tbs sugar
1 Tbs ground cinnamon
1 tsp grated nutmeg
Honey
*Tattooed Martha Tip: To save time you can skip the whipped egg whites and just go with whipped cream. The consistency and flavor are pretty close anyway!
Separate yolks from whites in two different large bowls.
Add sugar to yolks and beat with an electric mixer until creamy. Add heavy cream, milk, bourbon, rum, and spices and stir until evenly mixed.
Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours or overnight.
Beat egg whites with electric mixer until soft peaks begin to form.
With the mixer running, slowly add sugar and beat until stiff peaks begin to form.
In a small shallow bowl, mix brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Rim glasses with a small amount of honey and then dip into sugar mixture to coat the edges. Pour eggnog into glasses, top with whipped egg whites, garnish with a little grated nutmeg, and serve!
As always, enjoy responsibly!
