There’s nothing I love more than homemade liquor infusions. They’re easy and far more delicious than the fake-flavored store bought stuff. I polled some of you guys on Instagram after sharing a photo of this Blackberry Infused Vodka that was in the works and you had some great flavor combinations and ideas that I’m looking forward to making in the future! This is just a really simple blackberry infusion that I created for a dark colored Halloween cocktail that I’ll be sharing later next week. I left the muddled berries in for about 4 days which not only created a rich dark plum shade, but added just the right amount of sweetness and tartness to the vodka.
(makes 1 cup)
Ingredients:
4-5 fresh blackberries
1 cup of vodka
And a little patience!
Add blackberries to a small sealing container or mason jar. Muddle with the end of a wooden spoon or muddler.
Add vodka, seal, and shake. Place in the refrigerator to infuse for 3 to 4 days, shaking once a day.
When it’s finished, pour through a fine mesh sieve placed over a liquid measuring cup. Press down on the muddled berries to release more liquid and then discard. Rinse any pulp out of the mason jar and pour strained vodka back in. Seal it up until you’re ready to use it. It can be stored in the refrigerator or at room temperature.
Enjoy responsibly!
And stay tuned to see the cocktail I mix up with this!
