Black cherries are one of my favorite summer fruits, so when I still had a big bag of them leftover from my Black Cherry Mini Chocolate Tarts, I decided to make tea with them. More inspiration struck when I saw the recipe for a Cherry Jerry and then this delicious cocktail was born! It’s light, sweet, and refreshing.. Perfect for those long summer days!

Tea recipe slightly adapted from Food and Wine
For Black Cherry Tea:
8 cups of water
1lb (2 ½ cups) black cherries, halved and pitted
1 cup of sugar
Juice from 1 lemon
4 whole black cloves
½ tsp ground cinnamon
5 black tea bags
(1.) Bring water to a boil in a large saucepan. Add cherries, sugar, lemon juice, cloves, and cinnamon and stir together. Simmer cherries over low heat for 15 minutes. Use a wooden spoon to squish the cherries against the pan to release the juice. Remove from heat, cover, and let stand for an hour. (2.) Strain the cherry juice through a fine mesh strainer into a clean saucepan. Press on the cherries to get the most juice out and then discard them. (3.) Bring cherry juice to a boil, remove from heat, and add tea bags. Let them steep for 5 minutes. Discard the bags and let tea cool to room temperature. (4.) Transfer to a large pitcher and refrigerate for a few hours before serving.
*Side note: this tea is also extremely good hot! Even though cherries are more of a summer thing, I definitely want to make this for fall!
